Walter E. Long and his wife, Janet, created additional student programs and events for the growing Century Class. Membership grew consistenty, until membership was limited to 100. They began the annual Hobo Picnic, fellowship events, and organized a plan to divide students into smaller groups, known as clans, to to fascilitate close connections between church leaders and university students. Once they moved to the YMCA, the membership restrictions were removed, and the class grew to over 250 active members. Long taught, while his wife provided social support for students for the next 25 years.
